Go West, Young Women

Heading off for Steubie-U Wednesday at noon. Loooong 14-hourish trip out to Steubenville, OH, for three glorious days taking in theatre classes, meeting up with old professors, going to daily mass, and enjoying IrishFest (yay!). Best of all mit meine schweister! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay! Soooooooooo looking forward to it.

Anywho, Birdie went off great, was so glad to see old faces at the performances, had a blast with the video camera backstage of the last performance, can't wait for Wallace's Will. Began rehearsals for English Made Simple, that should be mucho fun, huzzah! Am in a mood to write write write write write. Grrrrr. Time time time time time!?!?!

Semester going well. Can't believe I'm actually directing four plays this year after all. Am considering Our Town for the Fall, despite misgivings, because it would be a better choice for a growing program than darker, twistier, stranger stuff and I refuse to do A Doll's House. (Booooo!)

Am still at sixes and sevens about what to do with my thesis. It seems rather Hydraesque - I think I've chopped it down to a manageable size and it springs up with a dozen new appendages. It eludes me quite, but I still think it's important. Mrwrm. Must needs work on that, yes? Yes. (Note to self: remember to read Grotowski for Monday. Silly Emily!)

Called up Steubie-U today to get a list of whose classes were when and where so that I could drop in on professors, and found myself thinking that I'd have to jump through a lot of hoops and prove myself and hand over numbers and dates and who-knows-what to maybe, just maybe get some scheduling information from the registrar...because that's how Emerson works, or rather doesn't work...and instead there's a lovely lady on the other end of the line staying with me and checking out this prof and that and giving me their information, no questions asked other than what do I need, how can I help you, etc. I am so running my university like Steubenville and not like Emerson.

Howsomever, this semester of Emerson is going GREAT and what I am learning that IS very valuable and so I am not in the least sorry that I'm attending the program which is a wonderful thing to finally be able to say so there. And now I'm running off at the fingertips, as it were, and must, I think, conclude.
